Habitat for Humanity is a national charitable faith-based organization worthing for a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live.  Our mission is to mobilize volunteers and community partners in building affordable housing and promoting homeownership as a means to breaking the cycle of poverty.

Habitat for Humanity Durham Inc. was originally formed to provide affordable home ownership in the municipalities of Uxbridge, Scugog, Brock but we have expanded the area to include all of Durham Region.  Our first home was built in Uxbridge and closed 2006, our second broke ground June 2008 in Oshawa with a 3rd on the way....!  We have opened a ReStore that is located in Ajax, and hope to have another on the way withing the next 2 years for the north part of Oshawa. 

Partner applications are being accepted by Habitat for Humanity Durham Inc. for new housing projects.  Please note that while you may have sent in your application in already, the family selection team will not be contacting you directly until we have a confirmed piece of property to work with.  We appreciate your applications and know that you will be the first to know once a piece of land is acquired as you will be on the immediate notification list for our family information sessions.  **Please also note that your application does not guarantee you a house purchase, it only puts you on our list of interested parties.

How do we even begin to thank the many volunteers who have worked on our last build in Oshawa and on the build that took place in Uxbridge, words do not seem to define our gratitude.  But it does have to be said, WE THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR HELP AND THE MANY MANY HOURS OF DEDICATION BY ALL OF YOU - FOR WHOM WE WOULD NOT EXIST WITHOUT YOUR VERY HARD WORK.

We are working on 2 new properties and we hope to have them soon, but with donated land, sometimes it takes longer to acquire.  Stay tuned and if you want to be busy, there is so much more to do than just building homes!  We have started our first ReStore, and are actively seeking people to help cover some shifts.  We need YOU to be a success!  If you are a person that would like to benefit from the excitement of a build, working in the ReStore, being part of the planning by committee work please complete a volunteer application form and send it in to Kim, who will be happy to set you up for our next volunteer orientation.
