Partner Build Family
December, 2004 our first Partner Family was introduced to the Community.Shawn and Krystene Elliott, along with their three sons, Joseph, Keeghan and Liam, are looking forward to assisting Habitat for Humanity North Durham construct their home in Uxbridge this spring. Coming from Udora, they were longtime residents of the area and participated actively in the local community.
For their part the Elliott family was excited when they moved from their basement bachelor apartment where the 5 of them resided until their Habitat house was completed. They enjoy being close to downtown Uxbridge and school. The family will be mentored through the whole home buying and ownership process by Barbara Frisk, a member of the Family Selection and Partnering Committee. On being advised of their selection, Krystyne Elliott said, “We realize that we are very lucky to have been selected, and can’t believe what a wonderful Christmas present this will be, knowing we’ll be able to take the children and the new baby to our own very first home in just a few months. It will be a pleasure to work with all the wonderful volunteers that will help make our dreams come true. Both our mentor, Barbara Frisk, and I are planning on keeping a journal of the whole process so that we will not only have a memory, but will be able to share our experience with the next family selected for a home to be built by Habitat North Durham.”
